Ever looked at your coaching biz and thought, “There’s GOTTA be a better way?” Well, guess what. There IS.
It’s called the “Hybrid Coaching Model”, and when I shifted my coaching into this flow over 8 years ago…. I was able to add over $870,000 to my annual revenue WITHOUT any extra work.
It’s a killer combo: Group coaching. A membership area pumping out content. Personalized one-on-one sessions sprinkled in. Thoughtful and intentional touch points. All to deliver an unforgettable, results-driven, personal experience.
And while the hybrid model has been around for a while, there are still a LOT of coaches who AREN’T leveraging it yet (or know how to do it the right way).
Probably because they don’t believe that:
- Clients will be able to get the same great results as 1-1
- They’ll be able to personalize the client experience in a group setting
- They’ll be able to overdeliver so EVERY client feels like a VIP
Or they simply don’t know how to make the switch.
And that’s why today, I’m going to deep-dive into the entire hybrid model and how it all works…
So you can do all of the above, 5-10X your revenue… AND (even better) impact more lives like I did.
We’re going to breakdown:
- Deliverables
- Actual Revenue Potential
- How to Setup a Membership Site
- How to Personalize the Experience
- How to Overdeliver to Clients at Scale
Ready? Let’s get into the nitty-gritty!
#1: Hybrid Deliverables
There’s more than one way to bake a cake… but these are the exact hybrid deliverables we created in my coaching program.
This structure allows us to create a personalized journey for each client, deliver the core content in a more streamlined and effective way, provide built-in accountability at scale…
AND most importantly, continue to get clients the same great results as one-on-one coaching.
Inside My 16-Week Coaching Program (currently on a waitlist)
- Personal Kick-Off Call (with admin) to welcome them to the group, make sure they can access the portal, know where to find everything, how to get support, what to expect, etc.
- Personalized Freedom Roadmap (with coach) More on this below.
- Live Group Coaching Calls (1x per week) (with me + another coach) We don’t “teach” on these calls — that’s what the membership videos are designed to do. We COACH on these calls
- Scheduled 1-1 Coaching Calls (with a coach) More on this below.
- Core Content Inside of the Membership Area (24/7 access) This has saved me so I don’t have to teach the same things over and over again. This is the core content for my coaching program — delivered in video format inside our membership portal.
- Feedback on all work turned in (with a coach) This is done via email. More on this below, too.
- Weekly Accountability Check-ins (via email — coach)
- Private Facebook Group for clients — this group is to celebrate client wins, peer support, and announcements. We don’t coach in the group.
Pro Tip: My coaching program is evergreen, meaning people can join in at any time (given there is availability). The group calls flow seamlessly — because even though some people are just getting started and some are almost done, EVERYONE benefits by listening to each other’s questions.
#2: Your Actual Revenue Potential
The numbers below are actual numbers for my coaching program so you can see what this looks like in real life.
Plugging your own program investment and client capacity will help you get a better idea of where you’ll land if you made the switch.
Note: I choose to cap my clients at 36 at any given time because that’s what works for me… but I know plenty of hybrid (high-ticket) coaching programs that have HUNDREDS of clients. They just have more support on the team side.
Keep in mind, this is the SAME 6-ish hours a week of coaching (for me)…
But this model more than 5Xed our potential revenue and went from: $180k/year » $1,050,000/year
That’s $870,000 in additional revenue for roughly the SAME amount of work.
I don’t know about you, but I’ll take that trade all day long.
#3: How I Setup My Membership Site
Remember when I said “I was able to add over $870,000 to my annual revenue WITHOUT any extra work.”
Well, that’s not exactly true. There IS additional work required — and that’s setting up your membership area. It’s front-loaded work, but it only needs to be done ONCE.
There are two ways to do it:
- Pre-film your content
- Film it live
Both work really well, so it depends on how you want to get the job done. I pre-film most of my content.
I record using Screenflow, I use PowerPoint, and I store my videos in Voomly.com for $19 a month (and LOVE the platform).
If I were starting over, I’d build out my entire coaching program in Coach Engine. (It literally has EVERYTHING you need to deliver a top-tier program and then some.)
Module » Lesson » Training » Resource
- I divided my program into 8 pillars, which equals 8 different modules inside my membership area (Since my program is 16 weeks, they have 2 weeks to complete each module.)
- Each module contains a few different lessons (three to ten)
- And each lesson may have anywhere from one to five trainings
- Depending on the training, there may or may not be a resource to go with it
Don’t let that overwhelm you though, there’s a LOT of content in my coaching program.
I only recommend having as much content as you NEED to have to get your clients the results they are looking for.
Remember your clients don’t want or need “more stuff.” They want a faster and better way to hit their goals.
And as far as the length of your program — that should only be as long as it needs to be to get your clients results, too.
Pro Tip: So we don’t overwhelm our clients, we don’t unlock the WHOLE membership site at once. Each module unlocks as they complete the previous one successfully. It also keeps clients curious about the upcoming trainings!
#4: How We Personalize in a Group Setting
When I was thinking about switching from 1-1 to group…
I had a limiting belief that I’d never be able to provide the same kind of results in a group setting.
Each client has unique needs and joins us at different phases in their journey.
So how did we overcome this?
- Personal Kick-off/Orientation Call: We want to make sure our clients feel incredibly supported and like VIPs from the get-go. The intention of the 1-1 call is everything mentioned in #1 above.
- Personalized Freedom Roadmap: One-on-one session to dive deeper into their goals and what success looks like for them. Together, we’ll map out a custom plan to help them achieve their goals in the fastest way possible.
- Rotate Deliverables: After their Roadmap call, we customize the order of the program for each client (if necessary) based on what they need most. (This isn’t a must — but adds a lot of value and that “custom” experience.)
- THREE One-on-One Calls: There are 3 x one-on-one calls that happen in 16 weeks (in addition to their kick-off & Roadmap calls). They get a link to schedule their calls after they complete certain milestones. These sessions allow us to deepen the connection with each client and serve them in a more personalized way at key points throughout their journey.
- Feedback on all work turned in — As mentioned earlier, we provide feedback on all homework submitted for review. The beautiful thing about this is we have templates for EVERYTHING. Of course, we customize every email to make sure we provide a thoughtful and complete response… but these templates help us get the job done a LOT faster.
Bonus Tip: This weaves into the next section — but something fun we started doing more recently, is asking (on the client intake form): “What is your favorite indulgence under $50.” Then, we often surprise our clients with it during their journey
#5: Overdelivering at SCALE
Since “Overdeliver” is one of our core values, this one is SUPER fun for us to play around with.
We do some really fun things… but I’m not going to give them ALL away here (so it’s still exciting for you, too, if you ever become a client! )
- Thoughtful Welcome Package: We send this in the snail mail — and it’s packed with some of my fave books, a productivity journey, a handwritten card, and a few other goodies. You could have a fulfillment center send these out for you, but we pre-pack them and write our cards by hand.
- “Crushing It” Cards in the Mail: When clients are killing it and crushing their goals, we want them to know that we’re SO proud of them! We send them a handwritten card which may or may not contain something extra in it!
- Pick-Me-Up Cards: When a client is going through a challenge or struggle and needs a little encouragement, we send cards for that, too!
- Coffee Cards: Around the time the “newness” of the program starts to wear off (6 weeks in)… we send them a little gift card for some coffee to help them keep the momentum going.
- Shout Outs: We give clients shout-outs in the Facebook group and on the group calls when we want to celebrate with them!
- Check out the Bonus Tip in #4!
So there you have it!
This Hybrid Coaching framework allows us to deliver *most* of our coaching program in a leveraged format…
but still create that personalized, VIP experience at scale.
And most importantly, our clients get INSANE results.
For all of those reasons (said in my best Mark Cuban voice) — that is why I believe the Hybrid Coaching model is a superior model.
I hope you found this breakdown helpful, and that it inspires you to take your coaching program to new heights!
