It has been quite a journey….
In fact, my journey almost never got started because I used to have a HUGE fear of public speaking.
I remember back in high school I had to give a two-minute senior speech to be able to graduate.
The thought of that speech haunted me from my freshman year all the way until the end of my senior year when I had to present. It gave me a lot of anxiety and sleepless nights. All for two stupid minutes.
Shockingly enough, when I was done, I was still alive and breathing and was not publicly stoned or eaten by stage alligators.
I’d like to say that in that moment, I had a massive mind-shift and realized a hidden talent inside of me, but that’s not what happened.
Soon after I started my career as a personal trainer, I was working really early in the morning, sleeping for a few hours at lunchtime, and then hitting up the sessions again at night.
It was a grueling schedule that I kept up for years.
For some weird reason, all of my friends with “normal jobs” could never hang out between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm.
I realized I was living my life based on everyone else’s schedule, and not my own. I was exhausted, my workouts were crappy, and I was frustrated and unhappy.
I needed to be able to leverage my time, and stop trading hours for dollars.
I needed to start coaching group classes.
I knew it was something that I had to do to take my career to the next level, but there was one thing stopping me….ME!
With the help of my ridiculously supportive husband, I said f*** it, and took out an ad in the local paper.
I realized that if I was going to make a bigger difference and live out my mission of helping others to live a healthier and happier life, I needed to get out of my own way and step WAY OUT of my comfort zone.
I ended up with 6 people who signed up for my first boot camp class.
I worked really hard at getting over my fear of speaking…and sure enough, class by class, and workshop after workshop, it became easier.
I work hard every day to push myself out of my comfort zone… because that’s what I expect from my clients, and I strive to lead by example.
Fast forward 10 years later…
I’ve built an incredible team with 5 coaches and an amazing “Client Happiness Specialist.”
I’ve sold MILLIONS of dollars in personal training and fitness-related services… and I’m incredibly grateful to have played a part of transforming thousands of people’s lives here in Central Florida.
Throughout the years, I created systems and automation for every aspect of my business so I could focus on working “on” my business instead of “in” it…and on my own terms.
In August of 2015, I sold my fitness business.
WHY?! Great question.
First, my husband is in the fire department, and once he retires (in the next couple of years), we’ll be heading back up to North Carolina. So for the last 3-4 years that I had my business, I’ve always known this and have been getting my business systemized and positioned to be able to sell it.
Second, I have a MASSIVE passion for helping other fitness pros who are working hard every day to build their business. I’ve created an incredible lifestyle and financial freedom from my own fitness business, and I wanted to be able to pursue it full-time and devote all of my energy towards Fit Pro Essentials.
My fitness business changed my life, and I’m excited and grateful to be able to share what I have learned with you.
This is the reason I started Fit Pro Essentials.
Because if I can do it, you absolutely can too.
I’ve been there, done that. I’ve made lots of mistakes but I’ve also had huge successes.
I’m going to share the lessons I’ve learned, the strategies that work, and the actual tactics that get REAL RESULTS.
Plus- I’m going to show you how to have a LOT of fun in the process- otherwise, what’s the point!?
No matter if you ever have plans to sell your fitness business in the future…
I believe that your fitness business should be working for YOU and not the other way around.
You should be working “in” your business because you WANT to…not because you HAVE to.
When you get all of this setup, you’ll be able to enjoy your business and your clients without getting burned out or living in constant overwhelm.
You’ll be able to live the life that you truly want. And yes- it’s absolutely possible and you don’t have to do it alone.
Fitness professionals have one of the most important jobs in the entire WORLD.
While the rest of the planet is trying to make people fatter, unhealthier, and drug dependent, we’re out there every day trying to make people healthier, more confident, and more excited about living life.
I can’t think of a more important mission than that, can you?
Never underestimate how powerful and impactful you can be.
Thanks for taking the time to read a little about me and my story.
If you’re ready to take your fitness business to the next level, I take on a limited number of coaching clients each year.
You have to be an action-taker and be ready to do a few things that may be out of your comfort zone. I promise that’s where the magic happens.
