Yep, it’s true.
In my last post, I talked about how important it is to loosen your grip on your business and LET your team help you.
But I also mentioned how sometimes, despite all your best efforts and “BS detection” skills, you’ll end up hiring the WRONG people.
It’s happened to all of us, and it’s just part of the growth you go through as a business owner.
In my case, within 6 months of opening my second location in my fitness business, a new trainer I hired walked out the door with 90% of my clients and started her own camp.
It WRECKED me…
I felt betrayed and was completely exhausted.
But after a few days of having a pity party for myself, I picked myself back up, refocused my attention on my first location, and went to work on figuring out where I went wrong and how to make sure something like that never happened again.
Now here I am more than a decade later in a different business with a team I love, trust, and wouldn’t trade for the world!!!
Still, I could have easily let that situation validate my fears about losing control of my business.
I could have said, “Well, I guess I really CAN’T trust anyone to care about my business, so I guess I’ll start doing everything myself and just stay small…”
But I didn’t.
In fact, I went on to open 3 more locations.
So if you’re worried about a situation like that happening to you?
I can’t promise it won’t, but I CAN promise that building a team that can help you go farther faster is 100% worth the risk.
And if and when you do get burned by a team member, you extract the lessons, and keep moving.
At the end of the day, choosing to own a business is a high-risk, high-reward decision…
And if it were easy, everyone would do it!
So keep your eye on the prize, and know that you WILL grow into the leader you’re meant to be if you just keep at it.
Make it an amazing day,
Alicia
