I’ve been running a little experiment this week.
Maybe you’ll want to try it too.
A few days ago I checked my screen time…
Let’s just say YouTube has been winning more than I’d like. 😅
When you look at the numbers, it’s unbelievable how quickly they add up.
Hours.
Gone.
That’s life, WASTED, with nothing to show for it.
I almost always open YouTube with good intentions.
I want to learn something.
And to be fair, many of the videos are genuinely helpful.
But learning isn’t the same as making progress.
I don’t need more information right now.
I need to do more with what I already know.
So here’s my experiment.
Three days a week…
I’m blocking off 1–2 hours.
One topic.
One goal.
Phone on Do Not Disturb.
No more “I’ll just watch one more video.”
No more chasing the next shiny AI thing.
Just hyper-focused learning.
And then APPLYING what I learned.
I’ve become convinced that protecting my attention is just as important as protecting my energy and my calendar.
Because whatever gets our attention…
Usually gets our future.
So here’s a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately…
If someone looked at where I spent my attention today… would it match my values and the life I’m trying to build?
It’s a simple question.
But I think it has the power to change a lot.
Make it an amazing day,
Alicia
