Have you heard this story before?
The “acres of diamonds” story?
In a nutshell, it’s about a wealthy Persian farmer named Ali.
And his farm was pretty successful.
But one day, he started hearing stories of other African settlers making millions by finding diamond mines across the continent.
You can guess what happened next…
Of course, he wanted to find his OWN diamond mine.
Ali decided to sell his farm for practically nothing so he could go out and search for those coveted, sparkling diamonds he was hearing so much about.
But Ali searched and searched… and never found a diamond mine.
In fact, he died with almost nothing to his name.
Here’s the crazy part: The man who bought Ali’s farm noticed something unusual on the farm one day…
It was a big, black, jagged rock –
A diamond in its rough, natural state.
As he explored the farm even further, he noticed another black rock… and another…
Until the man who bought Ali’s farm realized he was sitting on ACRES of diamonds.
Ali never knew his farm was FULL of these precious diamonds…
Because he had never taken the time to learn what they looked like in their raw, rough state.
And he never even spent a minute exploring his own farm before setting out to dig elsewhere.
Had he done either of those things, he would have known he was already sitting on the very thing he spent the rest of his life searching for – but never found.
So, what does this all mean for you?
As business owners, so many of us are looking for answers everywhere but within ourselves.
We can easily get distracted by what other people have…
And we keep ourselves busy with tasks, ideas, and other work that keeps us “busy” – but keeps us from seeing that we’re sitting on our very own acres of diamonds.
So, this week, I invite you to spend a little time thinking about your own “farm.”
Because you are sitting on ACRES of diamonds… even if you don’t know it yet.
Here are a few questions to think about:
>> What are the “raw, unpolished diamonds” already in your business that just need a little polishing to be able to 10x where you’re at in your business right now?
>> What habits do you need to install to make sure you stay hyper-focused on your path to avoid “digging somewhere else”?
>> And before you give up, lower your goals, or change your trajectory… how can you “explore” your own business for opportunities you’re not seeing?
It’s a brand new month.
Focus on what you have. Focus on where you’re going. And focus on doing the RIGHT things to grow and scale.
You already have the answers.
In your corner,
