We’re kicking off this month’s “Systems Series” with one of my absolute FAVORITE topics:
How to hire help when you feel like you can’t afford it.
I know this is a major hurdle for SO many business owners, so instead of trying to convince you right off the bat, I’m going to start with an example instead.
Imagine this very common scenario with me…
Let’s say you’re spending just 2 hours per week scheduling all your social media posts, blog posts, videos, and emails.
Harmless, right?
Wellllll…
When you do the math, that’s 104 hours every year — which is more than two full 40-hour work weeks!
Now, ask yourself, what could you have achieved in those 104 hours if you’d focused on high-impact activities in your business instead?
Here’s where the real kicker comes in: those hours spent on a task like content scheduling, (which can be easily outsourced for $5-10 per hour), are not just hours spent…
They’re opportunities lost.
Each hour you spend on lower-value tasks is an hour you’re not spending on growing your business, creating new products, or engaging with your clients — i.e. the activities that truly add value and generate income.
But let’s break it down even further:
- 104 hours x your hourly rate (let’s say $50 as a conservative estimate) = $5,200 worth of your time.
- Now, outsourcing those 104 hours at $10 per hour = $1,040.
That means by NOT outsourcing, you’re effectively losing $4,160 worth of opportunity!
That’s why getting the help you need isn’t just another “expense”, it’s an INVESTMENT to free up your time to focus on more profitable activities.
Something else: it’s not just about the financial gain…
It’s also about regaining your mental and emotional bandwidth by delegating tasks that don’t require your unique skills.
This freedom allows you to be more creative, strategic, and focused…
Which will lead to better decision-making and, ultimately, a more successful (and energizing) business.
What more could you want?!
Over the next few weeks, we’ll talk more about how you can find the right people, let go of the reins a bit, and build a team that adds real value to your business…
But for now, I want you to sit with this and marinate!
You can even get out pen and paper and work out the math, like in the example above.
If you want to move faster this year, then it’s time to start thinking differently than you have in the past.
Make it an amazing day,
Alicia
