The “Dark Side” Of Automation In Your Coaching Biz

Alright, so maybe “dark side” is a little dramatic — but I got your attention, didn’t I?

I’ve been talking about automation this month and how much easier it can make your life as a coach or business owner.

But let’s back up for a sec…

Because while automation is a massive time-saver, it’s not a “cure-all” — and there’s almost always more of a learning curve than you’d expect.

First off, not all parts of your business *should* be automated.

Some parts, especially those deep, meaningful conversations with clients, need your human touch.

So yes, automation can handle a lot…

But the purpose of automation should be to free up your time so you can do what YOU do best…

Which is COACH!

This is a challenge I ran into about a year ago…

I realized that I had automated my business SO much that I wasn’t doing what I loved anymore.

Now, I’m wayyyy more hands-on with our Content Club members, I’m creating new offers again, and I’m planning on offering even more hands-on support towards the end of the year.

Second, when you decide to automate parts of your business, there IS a setup phase…

And that setup phase is never as “set it and forget it” as anyone thinks it will be.

It requires tweaking, testing, and a fair bit of patience.

Think of it as training a new team member — it takes time for them to learn the ropes.

And lastly?

There can be tech hiccups.

Software doesn’t always play nice.

Updates, bugs, and integration issues can turn your streamlined system into a bit of a headache sometimes.

What happens if your automated email system goes down?

What if an integration breaks or misfires and no one notices?

Automation can do the heavy lifting, but it still requires some regular attention.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying all this to scare you off…

Because automation is still one of the most powerful tools you can leverage to scale your business.

But like all powerful tools, it needs to be handled with care.

It also takes some time to master…

So if you don’t get it right the first time? It’s okay! Take notes and try again.

(The good news is, you can find tech tutorials for just about ANYTHING on YouTube — so use it!).

Like I mentioned in my last email, if you want an easy place to start, start by automating your content.

When you join Content Club, we give you 30 days of fill-in-the-blank content you can automate to grow your health or fitness business every single month.

That includes:

– Email newsletters
– Social media posts (even reels!)
– Lead magnets
– Facebook and IG ads
– And even your strategy so you don’t have to think about it!

The first month, it might take you 3-4 hours to get your entire month of content edited and automated…

But by month two and three? You could cut your marketing time down to 2-3 hours and have leads and sales coming in while you sleep.

See how Content Club works here!

The bottom line is, automation takes some time to get right…

But after that? Say hellooooo to more precious, white space in your calendar.

Make it an amazing day,

Alicia
