Time to get a little personal…..
About 6 years ago, I changed my business structure from an LLC to a Corporation (s-corp).
I started with a new accountant and thought everything was great…
UNTIL I started getting notice after notice in the mail with penalties for not filing certain forms throughout the year.
When I signed up with my new accountant, I thought they were going to file all of the necessary forms for me.
Apparently- they thought I was filing my own forms.
I was new to the whole quarterly forms because with an LLC you don’t need them. And yes- I definitely found this out the hard way.
I literally had to pay HUNDREDS of dollars in fees and penalties.
It sucked. Lesson learned.
Ever since then (and even though I switched accountants faster than you can say Jack Robinson), I’ve been using my “Tax Report Checklist” that I created to make sure I never missed filing a report again!
I’ve attached my exact “Tax Report Checklist” for you in the link below.
Why? Because I never want ANY of you to have to go through what I went through.
****THIS IS NOT TAX ADVICE – it’s just a simple checklist I personally use for my business to make sure I file my necessary tax reports filed on time.
I recommend meeting with your accountant and putting a similar checklist together for your business based on your structure!
If you’re not 100% sure on what you need to file, don’t try to figure this out on your own. Reach out to an accountant in your area who you trust to get help.
Hope this helps you in your business! Alicia 🙂
